Six Critical Leadership Activities
There are hundreds, if not thousands, of articles, blog posts, books, etc. written about leadership and management. Ultimately, you can distill all of the information available into a few critical activities. That is what I’ve done. These activities are what I call my “Critical Leadership Activities™”. They emerged over time resulting from lots of reading, observing others (i.e., bosses and subordinates), and personal experiences. I have used these critical leadership activities as my framework to lead and manage Remote DBA Experts.
The following list identifies six activities that I consider “critical” to successful leadership. These activities have helped me become and remain a more effective and efficient leader.
- Strategize
- Align
- Energize
- Enable
- Actualize
- Recognize
Here is how I frame the meaning of the six terms I used to label these activities:
Strategize – The process of developing the approach and plans to accomplish aims.
Align – The process of aligning all the aspects, resources and individuals necessary to accomplish aims.
Energize – The process of getting and keeping everyone energized and working towards accomplishment of the aim.
Enable – The process of enabling those who are working to accomplish the aim.
Actualize – The process of executing the strategic tasks necessary to accomplish the aim.
Recognize – The process of acknowledging and rewarding those who contribute to the accomplishment of the aim.
In my following posts (typically two per week), I will expand upon each of the activities one post at a time as I did in my previous blog series about the “Seven A’s of Accomplishment“.
I hope you read along! Have a Happy, Healthy, and Profitable New Year!!!
The BEST is Yet to Come!
